The Early Childhood Care program prepares individuals for careers supporting young children in inclusive, developmentally appropriate environments. Students gain hands-on experience, industry-recognized certifications, and essential soft skills for success. Through a partnership with Ivy Tech Valparaiso, VTEC offers a eight-week course which includes ample on-site daycare training giving you the experience you need to feel confident and ready to launch your career.  

Here is small sample of what you will experience and learn in our 8-week program

    • 60 hours in a group setting on Ivy Tech’s campus
    • 90 hours field experience in a daycare setting
    • Health, Safety, and Nutrition training
    • CPR/AED/First Aid training

Having the technical know-how is only one aspect of success. In addition to learning early childhood care, VTEC students also learn the professional and personal skills needed to pursue a job, including:

    • How to Write a Professional Resume
    • Interview Skills
    • Time Management
    • Personal Budgeting
    • Creative Problem Solving
    • Decision Making
    • Conflict Resolution

Certifications

Upon completion of the program, students will have earned the following:
• Certificate of Skills Mastery from VTEC
• Health, Safety, and Nutrition Skill Badge from Ivy Tech
• Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification from American Red Cross
• If you choose to advance your education, you will have earned the equivalent to 3 credit hours toward the Classroom Support Professional Certificate
